ESIN Ethnic Minority Mentoring Panel for Early Career Scholars

A panel of social science scholars will share their experiences transitioning through the early phase of their careers. Find out what worked for them, what they would do differently and how you, as an early career scholar, can advance your career. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Moderator:
Sean Joe, PhD, LMSW:
Dr. Joe is an associate professor in the School of
Social Work at the University of Michigan. He is
the founder and director of the Emerging Scholars Interdisciplinary Network.

 

Panel:
Rogerio Pinto, PhD, MSW:
Dr. Pinto is an assistant professor in the School
of Social Work at Columbia University. He is the
recipient of the 2010 Society for Social Work and
Research Deborah K. Padgett Early Career
Achievement Award.

Karina Walters, PhD, MSW:
Dr. Walters is the William P. and Ruth
Gerberging University Professor at the School of
Social Work at the University of Washington. She
is also the Director of the Indigenous Wellness Research
Institute.

Michael Spencer, PhD, MSSW:
Dr. Spencer is an associate professor in the
School of Social Work at the University of Michigan
and this month will be assuming the role of
Associate Dean for Educational Programs.
