For Mid-Career and Senior Career Scholars

Mid Career and Senior Career Scholars also make up a significant proportion of ESIN’s overall membership. Comprised largely of mid-level and senior level researchers as well as associate and full professors, these members actively seek to provide professional support and vocational guidance for ESIN Scholars who are in the early stages of their academic careers.
Like Doctoral Students and Early Career Scholars, those who join ESIN as Mentors can come from any discipline or research background.

Eligibility

To be accepted as an ESIN Mid Career or Senior Career Scholar, you must be:

  • More than eight years out of graduate school

Expectations

Central to membership as a Mid Career or Senior Career Scholar is the willingness and time to support and mentor early career investigators in fulfilling their career aspirations. These members must also be attuned to the special challenges and hardships Early Career Scholars face in academe.
In addition, ESIN Mid and Senior Career Scholars must be willing to:

  • Consult on theoretical/methodological areas of scholarship;
  • Regularly post information to the ESIN website regarding new research findings, training programs, and career opportunities;
  • Maintain a regularly updated profile on the ESIN website.

Benefits

Membership in ESIN provides Mid- and Senior Career Scholars with the special opportunity to help shape the careers and educational achievements of their Scholar counterparts.  In addition, these members also earn other important benefits:

    • The potential to identify young collaborators;
    • Access to the latest research findings and databases;
    • New opportunities for professional growth as a researcher;
    • Opportunities to tap into and further hone critical leadership abilities and interpersonal skills;
    • New connections and relationships with peer professionals who are looking to pay forward the support they once received to others who need it; and
    • On-line resources and tools that allow Mentors to communicate, provide support, and organize research efforts with junior colleagues (and each other).

Excellent Scholarship is a Prerequisite for Social Change
